about the school

The school was started in 1998, thanks in a big part to the encouragement of a friend. The then vicar at St James' Church kindly gave me the use of their church hall and his daughter as one of my first pupils.

The school is still based in the same church hall where we have grown from the first class of six pupils to now having over 250.

The school is very much part of the community, taking part in local events and performances. We also raise funds for equipment to enhance the community's outreach.

There is an opportunity for secondary school pupils who attend the ABC ballet school to do community service at the school as part of their Duke Of Edinburgh Award. The younger pupils enjoy receiving help from the older pupils.

about the principal

Alison Allen

D.D.E, L.I.S.T.D and holder of Enrico Cecchetti Final Diploma

The principal of the ABC Ballet School, Miss Allen

When I was growing up we either did horse-riding or ballet. I did ballet and my world changed! At the age of eleven I went to a ballet school where I boarded. It was every girl's dream, an old Rothschild mansion, The Arts Education School Tring Park. It was full of hidden staircases and secret rooms. Ballet became my life.

I still had two other ambitions: to swim the English Channel and to work with children! I haven't managed to swim the channel but I have now worked with children for thirty years. I am as passionate about my work now as I was when I started.

My career started as a dancer and I have had the opportunity to dance all over the world. After getting married I concentrated on teaching. It was having my own children that made me want to be a part of the local community and to contribute to it.

about the other teachers

Natalie Richeux

Miss Natalie

Natalie is currently a student at The Grey Coat Hospital.

Natalie has been attending the ABC ballet school for 13 years, since the age of 4, and has always loved dancing and performing in the shows. She is currently studying Philosophy, Maths, Theatre and Film Studies at Sixth Form College. She has given many one-off tuition sessions to primary school and younger children, from Maths to Drumming.

Natalie has recently started to assist Miss Alison with the younger children on a Saturday.

All classes are accompanied by professional live pianists. The younger children quickly warm to Miss Jane who is an integral part of the class with the pupils very much relating to her. Miss Greta, Miss Malgorzata, Miss Leona, Mr Aretas & Mr Duda are all currently training at the Royal Academy of Music and undertake performances as well as accompanying ballet classes.

Please note that all teachers and pianists are CRB checked for your peace of mind and your children's safety.

Abigail, Hattie & Larissa all currently assist Miss Alison with the younger children .
